Check whether the builder is a manufacturer or a project manager, whether you can see the design before it is built, what the quote includes, who supervises the build on site, how deadlines and changes are handled, and whether they know your venue and organiser rules.
Last updated 24 October 2026An exhibition stand is only useful if it is ready on time, looks like the design you approved and helps your team start conversations. The builder you choose has a large effect on all three. These are the questions worth asking before you decide.
1. Is the builder a manufacturer or a project manager?
Some companies own a workshop and build in-house. Others, including Evoke Sense, design and manage the project and coordinate a network of production partners. Neither model is automatically better. What matters is that you understand which one you are hiring and who is accountable for quality, deadlines and cost.
2. Can you see the design before it is built?
Ask whether the proposal includes 2D layouts and 3D visuals, and how many rounds of changes are included. A clear design approval step avoids surprises on the show floor.
3. What exactly is included in the quote?
Quotes can look similar and still cover different things. Check whether they include design, structure, graphics, flooring, furniture, lighting, audio-visual equipment, installation, dismantling and on-site supervision. A lower price that leaves items out can end up costing more.
4. Who supervises the build on site?
Installation week is when problems appear. Ask who will be on site, what they are responsible for and how you reach them.
5. How do they handle deadlines and changes?
Ask for a timeline that works back from the show date, with dates for design approval, production and delivery. Ask how changes after approval are handled and priced.
6. Can they show relevant work?
Look at stands of a similar size and type to yours and ask what the builder's role was on each project. If possible, speak to a previous client.
7. Do they understand your venue and organiser rules?
Every show has an exhibitor manual and venue regulations. A good builder asks for them early and designs around them.
Warning signs
- A fixed price offered before anyone has asked about your stand size, show or goals
- No design stage, or only a single image
- Vague answers about who does the production and who supervises it
- Pressure to decide quickly without a clear scope

Quick answers
How many stand builders should I compare?
Two to four is usually enough to compare scope, design quality and responsiveness without wasting time.
Should I choose the cheapest quote?
Compare what is included first. A lower quote that leaves out items or supervision can cost more in the end.
